Many of you may have seen the Irish Refugee

The T-Shirt was used by 15 asylum seekers living in direct provision in Sligo, Clifden, Mosney, Kerry and Dublin, along with 6 staff members and friends, who all completed the Dublin City Marathon last week in front of one of the biggest crowds on the streets of Dublin since the papal visit.
We are pleased to announce that there are still some T-shirts available for sale at €19.10 (what else?), although higher donations are very much welcomed. All sales, and any additional donations, will go to the campaign for an increase in the allowance for asylum seekers in this year's budget.
The orange T-shirts have the slogan '€19.10 a week for asylum seekers = not fair' front & back. The T-shirts are all fair trade and organic, made by Kate Nolan of Fable.
The T-shirts are available from the IRC at 88 Capel Street, 01-8730042 or info@irishrefugeecouncil.ie.

About time. It's shameful the way people who seek our help are treated. Not allowed to do even the most menial of tasks people who have a lot to offer our society are being held in ridiculous, unnecessary, and draconian financial straitjackets. I made a film some time back on the life of an asylum seeker. It sought to highlight the push factor in this issue as much as the pull factor. It's called 'Guest of the Nation' and is available to watch free at my site www.ironmountainmovies.com
Hopefully the ridiculous, draconian and unfair financial straitjacket that is put on anyone seeking asylum here will soon be removed. It makes no sense to disallow people who might have much to offer from taking part in society at least while their case is being processed. I made a short film on the life of an Asylum Seeker in Ireland. It's called 'Guest of the Nation'. The film attempts to highlight the push factor in this issue as opposed to the pull factor and is available to watch free at www.ironmountainmovies.com.
